Description
Theo van Gogh, brother, confident and business partner of Vincent, heared about the suicide attempt the day after the tragedy. He was nevertheless able to exchange with his brother for the last 20 hours of his life, which he spent at his side during his terrible agony. The poor fellow should pass away from syphilis only six moths later. He was first buried in Holland, in January 1891. His presence is symbolized by the only piece of furniture of this otherwise bare and empty room: a simple chair. This picture has been taken by Wouter van der Veen, scientific director of Institut Van Gogh.
